Accessibility

A plumbing emergency does not care how well you see a screen. This site was built so that anyone can find the number and use the page, whatever they are using to read it.

What we are aiming at

We built this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, Level AA. That is the standard most commonly referenced in the United States, including under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

We are not going to claim perfect conformance. Nobody can honestly claim that without an independent audit, and this site has not had one. What we can tell you is what was actually built and what has not been checked.

What we did

• Text contrast. Every text and background color pair on the site was measured against the AA threshold before it was used, and the ratios are recorded in the code alongside the colors so they cannot quietly drift.
• Keyboard. Everything you can click, you can reach with the Tab key, and the focused item is visibly outlined. A "skip to main content" link is the first thing on every page, so a keyboard or screen reader user does not tab through the whole header to get to the page.
• Screen readers. Pages use real headings in order, real landmarks, and real lists. Call and text buttons announce what they do and which number they dial rather than reading out a bare string of digits.
• Tap targets. Every button and link that matters is at least 48 by 48 pixels, which is the WCAG 2.2 target size, and comfortably usable with an unsteady hand.
• Zoom and reflow. Text is sized in relative units, so it scales with your browser or phone settings. The layout reflows to 400 per cent zoom without a horizontal scrollbar.
• Motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, the site honors it. There is nothing that flashes, autoplays, or moves on its own.
• It works without JavaScript. The site is plain HTML and CSS. Expanding sections use the browser's own controls. If scripts are blocked, or a script fails to load, every page still works and every phone number is still there.
• Images. Photographs carry alternative text as a requirement of the system, not as an afterthought — a job photo cannot be published on this site without it.

What we have not verified

Honest limits, so you know where the gaps might be:

• No independent audit has been carried out, and the site has not been tested end to end with every screen reader and browser combination.
• The contact form is handled by a third party. We control how it looks and how it is labeled; we do not control everything it does after you press send.
• Content added over time — job photos and write-ups — is checked as it goes up, but new content is always where problems appear first.
